Apple core has been a favorite game during my small group instruction time. We usually play it the last couple of minutes of our time together.

I introduced my kindergarten class to the game Hocus Pocus this week. Each student gets a recipe card. They collect ingredients throughout the game. The first person to get all of their ingredients is the winner. It’s a fun counting game for this time of year.

In my kindergarten class, we sorted Domino’s during math stations one day. Each student had their own color set of dominoes. They count the dots and then place the domino in the correct box. Since they each had a different color, it made it easy for me to recognize any student who was struggling with counting.

I’ve seen this game played recently on various feeds. So we tried it yesterday in my kind of run class during math stations. We called it, steal the bear. Each student started with 10 bears. The first student rules, the die, and steals that number of bears from their partner. Next, the partner rules to die. They steal that number of bears from the partner. They continue to go back-and-forth until one person has zero bears left. #kindergarten

#TeacherHack use a fork to take cupcakes out of the container. This saved you from getting frosting all over you. Have you tried this before?

These letter fluency cards are great for my small groups to practice while I’m getting everybody in the class settled at their station. First, they go through and name each letter. Next, they go through the card and say the sound that each letter spells.

Fall is my favorite time of year! These pumpkin direct drawings are one of my favorite projects we do in my kindergarten classroom. They are simple and look great on display.

Each week we read a book that is called our story treasure book. We do various activities related to the book all week. One thing we do, is fill out a story treasure paper. I teach kindergarten, so we practice drawing a picture that will help remind them about the story. I have comprehension questions written out for parents to ask their child about the book. I send home some sort of a small treasure or trinket that reminds them of the book. They place their treasure in their story bag that they have at their house. They have fun collecting them throughout the school year. https://www.theteacherbag.com/story-treasure-bags/
