In kindergarten, we practice language and sentence structure a lot. Sentence scrambles are a fun way to practice these skills. Today’s freebie is a cookie sentence scramble.

When we are first learning about sentence scrambles, we do them as a whole class. I hand out one word to various students as they stand in front of the class. As a class, we unscramble them to make a complete sentence. Pocket chart words are included in this freebie.

Once students understand how a sentence scramble works, I have them practice on their own. Students cut apart the words in the sentence and put them in the correct order. They read the sentence and rewrite it correctly. Last, students draw a picture to show what the sentence says.
