How to Set Up an Apple Dramatic Play Area
Do you have a dramatic play area in your classroom? We have one in our kindergarten classroom and my students love it! Dramatic play is such an important part of learning in kindergarten. They’re learning to navigate social interactions, build language skills, and understand the world around them. This type of play helps children experiment with different social roles and scenarios, allowing them to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe, creative environment. In September, I transform our play area into an apple dramatic play area.

Apple Dramatic Play Center
I like to change our dramatic play area every month or so to keep things fresh. This month we have our play center themed with apple activities.
Apple Market
Our play center has an apple market for students to shop for apples and other apple goodies. we have apples, order forms, and even apple dollars!
Bakery
My students can make an apple pie and other apple creations they can think of in the bakery. I used felt to make pie crusts. The pie tins came from the dollar store and the apples are pom poms.
Apple Trees
One of the activities I added to our play area, was an apple picking station. I used butcher paper to make the trees. I laminated them so I could reuse them each year. On the trees, I placed velcro strips (the hook sides). We used large colored pom poms as apples. My students could pick the apples and put them in baskets, or put them back onto the trees. This was a big hit!
My kindergarten students love this apple dramatic play center. I plan to add fall leaves next, and then turn it into a pumpkin patch next month. If you are interested in the labels, signs, order forms, and any other printables from this post be sure to check out our apple dramatic play center pack.
