Favorite Polar Animal Resources
I have been teaching about polar animals for a long time. Over the years, I have done a variety of polar animal activities with my class. This post is a round-up of polar animal resources and activities you can do with your class. Think of it as a one-stop idea post. Enjoy!
Penguins
Penguins are one of my favorite animals to teach about! My students always love learning about them. It’s an animal that many come in with misconceptions, but after some research, we change that! Check out some of these posts for penguin resources.
Polar Bears
Polar bears are another favorite in my class. When we learn about polar bears, we also learn about the northern and southern hemispheres. It is often new learning for them to hear that penguins and polar bears live on opposite sides of the Earth.
Snowy Owls
Snowy owls are beautiful animals. We often have a separate owl unit, but I lump snowy owls with polar animals.
Arctic Animals
A culminating event we do at the end of our polar animal unit is we have a polar adventure day! The kids go through various stations throughout the morning. You can read all about our polar adventure day here.
