The Popcorn Dragon
The Popcorn Dragon by Jane Thayer is about a dragon named Dexter who discovers that he can blow smoke. He is excited to show his friends his new discovery but goes a little too far. He teases his friends with the fact that they cannot do the same trick. His friends decide they don’t want to include him when they are playing.
This book has some good discussion points. It is a great mentor text for character change throughout the story. In addition to examining character change, we also talk about the problem and solution that Dexter has.
