We are beginning our penguin unit and I thought I would share some of my favorite fiction and nonfiction penguin books I use with the class.

I try to read at least one chapter book during our penguin unit.  Mr. Popper’s Penguins is fun because most of them don’t realize it was a book before the movie.

Ms. Frizzle books are always a hit. The Penguin Puzzle book is informational and a fun read-aloud.

Finally, The Magic Tree House books are another tried and true favorite. In The Eve of the Emperor Penguin, Jack and Annie find themselves eye-to-eye with emperor penguins.

Magic Tree House has nonfiction companion books that are filled with fun facts for kids.

Do you teach about penguins?  What are some of your favorite penguin books?
